This is the drone fly—often mistaken for a bee, yet belonging to a completely different family of insects known as hoverflies.

At first glance, its striped body and golden coloration mimic the warning patterns of bees. But unlike bees, the drone fly carries no sting. Its defense lies not in aggression, but in disguise.

Lost in the calm of Mabira’s morning mist
Soft mist settles between the branches, turning the dim morning light into a mysterious blue haze. The canopy forms a natural arch overhead, allowing only fragments of light to reach the forest floor. The scene feels still and alive at the same time—Mabira’s deep, ancient calm wrapping everything in silence. The mood is serene, moody, and almost cinematic, capturing the untouched beauty and mystery of the forest.
