Contrary to their colossal size, these gentle giants are light-footed thanks to their thickly padded feet, which support their weight. They walk on their toes while their heels rest on spongy cushions, quietening the sound of their footfall.

What does a day on safari with us really look like? 🦓

Here’s a taster from our 14-day Classic Wildlife and Primates Safari itinerary:

🌅 After a peaceful night’s sleep, you’ll rise with the sun and start the day with a hot drink and a small bite. Then, head out on a game drive on the north bank of the River Nile in Murchison Falls National Park.

This is the time of day when the animals are most active, so you’ll have the best chance of seeing the resident wildlife, including lions, elephants, giraffes, antelopes, hartebeest, and a chorus of tropical birds. What a way to start your day!

At around 10 or 11am, head back to your lodge for a hearty brunch. There is also an option to take a packed breakfast instead and extend your game drive.

🌊 During the hottest time of day, you can relax at your lodge, perhaps using the pool, snoozing in the sunshine or taking a gentle walk. Mid-afternoon will bring an alternative way of game viewing. Under the warm African sun, you’ll enjoy cruising along the River Nile to the bottom of Murchison Falls - a breathtaking and mighty waterfall - seeing animals like hippo, buffalo and crocodile along the shoreline and a wealth of bird life.

🌙 You’ll end the day back at your lodge, sharing evening drinks and stories of the day’s sightings, followed by a delicious dinner and listening to the sounds of the wild as your head hits the pillow, dreaming of tomorrow’s adventures!

This is just one day in Murchison Falls NP. Every day is different, and every park, too. Remember, your itinerary is tailor-made, so you see and do everything you personally want to.

While you’re on holiday with us and transferring between locations, it’s fun to check out the roadside markets and street food stalls while stretching your legs and meeting the locals.

There's nothing as nice as a fresh, juicy pineapple, tasty banana or sun-ripened mango. Or try your hand at preparing jackfruit and sugar cane. Just ask your safari guide - they know all the best places to stop!

The beautiful Mpogo Lodge is located on farmland near Lake Mburo National Park and offers splendid views of the surrounding countryside. 🏡

As you’re in cattle country, why not wake early and join in milking the Ankole long-horn cows or wander around the farm as the sun rises?

The lodge has spacious, modern cottages with every comfort and great views from your private veranda. Take a dip in the pool, enjoy fresh meals and relax in the lounge, all while being looked after by attentive staff.

You can expect visits from the local residents, too - zebras, buffaloes, antelopes and the occasional hyenas who come to the salt well. 🦓🐃🦌

At Embogo Safari Lodge, in Ishasha, the local crowned hornbills are regular visitors. They might look like they stopped by to say hello but actually, they can see themselves in the reflective glass door and mistake themselves for rivals - nature is certainly never boring here! 🌿

After an exciting day of adventures in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, enjoy the special safari tradition of a sundowner. 🌿

Savour a selection of drinks and light snacks as you soak up the sights and sounds of the wilderness, reflecting on the wildlife you have spotted during the day and watching any lingering animals from your vantage point high up on the Hyena Cliffs. 🥂

We recently handed over sports kits and balls donated by our lovely clients and friends. ⚽

Staff and pupils at Bugangari Primary School in Rukungiri district were thrilled to receive them - they reckon they’ll now be the smartest-looking school around! 🎓

Parents are trying to build a main hall at the school and have completed the foundations. This year, we are asking our clients and well-wishers to donate $10 per booking, or any other amount, to support this cause.
