Good stuff, keeping local lakes stocked

Red Drum in San Antonio!

This fall we completed our annual Red Drum stocking at Bruanig and Calaveras. About 1,000,000 fish were stocked between the two lakes thanks to the help of staff from A.E. Wood State Fish Hatchery and the Perry R. Bass Marine Fisheries Center.

These stockings are a necessity as Red Drum do not reproduce in these freshwater environments. In just a couple years these fish will grow to be the 20-30 inch or even 40-inch fish that are caught at these lakes everyday!

Thanks to you all for buying fishing licenses that help fund programs like this! Remember at these lakes the harvest regulations are different than at the coast. Any angler can keep up to 3 fish over 20 inches. No tags needed.
