December means winter at home. In Antarctica, it's summer.

Zodiac landings on the Antarctic Peninsula. Humpback whales surfacing so close you can hear them breathe. Penguins that waddle right past you like you're not even there.

December offers 20+ hours of daylight and weather that allows multiple landings each day.

Expedition cruises to Antarctica sell out months ahead. If this is on your bucket list, let's talk.

It's May and you're finally ready to book that Italy trip for July.

I get it. Life gets busy, and vacation planning slides down the list until suddenly summer's almost here.

However, when planning is delayed, the hotels you actually want are booked. Peak summer in Europe books 6-8 months out, not 6-8 weeks. This is the reality of how European travel works during high season.

If spring 2027 is on your radar, now's actually the perfect time to start planning.

"We want to see the Colosseum, but we don't want the tour bus experience."

I hear this constantly.

You want the iconic moments AND the authentic ones. The Eiffel Tower at sunset, yes. But also that perfect bistro your guidebook doesn't mention.

That's what custom itinerary design does. The major sites, on your timeline, plus the experiences most tourists never find.

Planning Europe? Let's talk.

DIY multigenerational family trip vs. working with a travel designer:

DIY:
→ Endless family group texts debating destinations
→ Spreadsheets tracking everyone's preferences
→ Hours researching which hotels have connecting rooms
→ Discovering on arrival that Grandma can't handle the stairs
→ Someone's unhappy with their room assignment
→ Realizing too late that the "family-friendly" excursion isn't appropriate for a 6-year-old

With a Travel Designer:
→ One inquiry form
→ One planning call where I ask the right questions
→ Accommodations selected based on everyone's actual needs
→ Mobility and accessibility flagged before booking
→ Room configurations that give families space together AND apart
→ Activities that genuinely work across generations
→ You show up and enjoy your family

Multigenerational trips are complex. Multiple travelers, budgets, and needs. I handle the logistics that most people don't think about until they're standing in a hotel lobby realizing something doesn't work.

Scenario: It's Thanksgiving week.

Option A: The usual routine. Grocery lists, cooking, hosting, cleaning.

Option B: You're sailing the Rhine. Waking up in Cologne, then Strasbourg, then Nuremberg. Each city decorated for Christmas. Gourmet meals prepared for you. Zero logistics stress.

November offers flexibility most months don't. Travel during Thanksgiving instead of the usual tradition. Travel early in the month before December chaos. Or simply travel when everyone else is too locked in to consider it.

This is what it looks like when you design your holidays on your own terms.

Why travelers love river cruising (no matter where they sail):

✓ Unpack once, wake up somewhere new every day
✓ Smaller ships = more personal experience
✓ Ports that big ocean liners can't reach
✓ All-inclusive dining, tours, and amenities

The destination changes. The experience doesn't.

Where would YOU want to river cruise? Europe? Egypt? South America?

Question for travelers: Which of these mistakes have YOU made? (No judgment here!)

A) Didn't check passport validity rules
B) Skipped travel insurance (and regretted it)
C) Booked the "cheap" flight and paid for it in stress
D) Chose a hotel based on someone else's recommendation (and it wasn't your vibe)
E) All of the above 🙈

We've all learned something the hard way at least once. Share your story in the comments!

Most trips start with a destination.

Italy. Greece. France. Somewhere warm.

But the most successful trips I plan rarely begin that way.

They begin with a conversation about what the traveler actually needs from the experience.

A chance to reconnect as a family. A meaningful milestone celebration. A slower pace after a busy year.

When the purpose is clear, the rest of the planning becomes much easier. The right destination, hotels, and experiences naturally fall into place.

The difference between a good trip and a great one often starts there.

October is one of the most overlooked months to travel. It also happens to be one of the best.

The crowds from summer have faded, the weather is still lovely in many places, and harvest season brings incredible food, wine, and local traditions to life across Europe.

A few October trips I especially love:

• Munich during Oktoberfest, followed by time exploring Bavaria’s charming towns
• Cyprus for sunshine, warm Mediterranean water, and a relaxed coastal pace
• A Rhine River cruise where you unpack once and wake up each morning to castles, vineyards, and beautiful fall landscapes

The difference between a good trip and a great one often comes down to timing and thoughtful planning.

If October travel has crossed your mind, it may be the perfect time to start the conversation.
