Get excited, August 25 is Fee-Free Day at Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve Whether you want to trek up Star Dune, slide down on a sandboard, or stick around for stargazing under some of Colorado’s darkest skies, today is the perfect day to explore America’s tallest dunes for free.
📍 Quick Visitor Tips:
☀️ Go early or late: Sand temperatures can soar in the afternoon sun. Hit the field before 10 AM or after 5 PM for the best experience.
👟 Proper Footwear: Pack sturdy closed-toe shoes or high socks. Bare feet and sandals won't cut it on hot sand!
🎟️ What’s free: Entrance fees are waived for U.S. residents. (Note: Camping, gear rentals, and special activity permits still carry regular rates). Have you climbed to the top of the dunes yet? 👀
