This is my favorite!

The Guardian looks like it swam straight out of a storybook. 🌊

Part horse and part sea creature, the hippocampus was carved for kids who love ocean adventures and mythical creatures.

Give your kids something they’ll remember outside of a screen.

If your child loves the ocean, they need to see this animal.

🌎 Global Accessibility Awareness 🌎

Global Accessibility Awareness Day was last week, and even though we are late to the celebration, we are working to improve accessibility in Albany.

At the Albany Visitors Association, we want visitors to feel welcome before they arrive and supported once they are here. That means sharing clearer accessibility information, improving our digital tools, listening to feedback, and helping travelers plan with confidence.

This week, we are sharing a few of the ways Albany is working to be more accessible for visitors and community members. Accessibility is a journey, and we are grateful for the partners helping us move in the right direction.

This 1950s-inspired interactive show invites guests to mingle with suspects, watch for clues, and help solve the big question: Who dunit? Come dressed in your favorite 1950s outfit, enjoy appetizers included with your ticket, and arrive about 30 minutes early to catch helpful clues before the official event begins.

Please note: Final Cut includes mature themes, strong language, and staged violence/murder.

🍷 4th Fridays Wine & Live Jazz | May 22 🍷

Settle in for 4th Fridays Wine & Live Jazz from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. this Friday at Springhill Cellars Winery. This hilltop winery, once a miniature pony farm, is now a family-owned spot with sweeping views, sunset skies, and vines rooted in the early days of Oregon’s wine story.

Enjoy Springhill wine, local beer, cider, dinner from Majahuas Authentic Mexican Food, or your own picnic. NO outside alcohol. Live jazz by local singer Just Lonna begins at 7 p.m., bringing a smooth soundtrack to a late-spring evening in the valley.

Admission is $10 per person. Reservations are encouraged if you would like a seat at a table. Drop-ins are welcome as space allows, but table seating may not be available, so bring your own lawn chairs or seating to make yourself comfortable.

To reserve a seat at a table, call Conner at 541-974-0917.

🥕 Albany Farmers’ Market | Today 🥕

Do not miss the Albany Farmers’ Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. Saturday morning is calling, and it sounds a lot like fresh bread crackling in a paper bag, neighbors catching up between booths, and someone saying, “I only came for one thing.”

The market has returned to Water Avenue and Ferry Street, right near the riverfront, Monteith Riverpark, and the Albany Historic Carousel & Museum. Come stroll, shop local, pick up something fresh for the week, and make a morning of it downtown.

Tag your market buddy and head out early for the best finds.

Plan your visit, support the vendors, and share this with someone who would like to attend.

👒 100 Years of Historic Fashion 1849-1949 | May 15 👒

100 Years of Historic Fashion 1849-1949 begins at 6 p.m. on May 15 at The Natty Dresser. Fashion historians Kay Demlow and Oscar Hult will explore a century of fashion in Albany’s Historic Districts through photos, period clothing, and reproduction pieces.

Clothing tells a story. It can show us how people worked, celebrated, traveled, and presented themselves through changing times. This Preservation Month event offers a stylish look at Albany’s past, from practical details to period flair.

A suggested donation of $5 benefits the Albany Downtown Association. Plan your visit and bring someone who loves history with a good hat.

📖 Monteith House “Little Women” Play | May 15 and 16 📖

Monteith House “Little Women” Play continues with performances at 7 and 9 p.m. on May 15 and 2, 4, and 6 p.m. on May 16 at the Monteith House. South Albany High School presents Louisa May Alcott’s classic story in a one-act adaptation by Marisha Chamberlain.

There is something especially fitting about seeing this beloved story performed inside one of Albany’s most important historic homes. The setting adds its own quiet character, connecting classic literature with a place that helps tell Albany’s early history.

Only a few tickets remain, so plan ahead if this one is on your list.
