A couple of my favorite images from the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, located in the high altitudes of the White Mountains (Inyo National Forest). Visiting this area has always been a bucket-list adventure for me and became even more so after an attempt the previous winter that turned out disastrous. Although we finally made the trip in good conditions late last summer during a new moon to capture some spectacular imagery! The campground is around 8,600' with the 'Patriarch Grove' of Bristlecones in excess of 10,000'. During cloudless nights, this Bortle 2 (very low light pollution) area is ideal for Astophotography.
The Bristlecone Pines are a small group of trees that reach an age far greater than any other living organism know to man - up to nearly 5000 years old. Tree ring data & core samples place the oldest tree on earth at 4,789 yrs (Methuselah) located in in the Patriarch Grove of the White Mountains.

These images will soon be featured in our Gallery in Old Town Albuquerque and available on our website.

I am very excited to announce that my image 'Rio Grande Pano', was selected for a major art installment at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix! The project was designed and conducted by Visit Albuquerque, Albuquerque's premier leader in tourism and marketing. The image 'wrap' was designed in a series of panels that span 38 feet long and over 6 feet tall and is located in Terminal 4 (Southwest & American Airlines) along the moving walkway. I hope you all get an opportunity to see it!

The image is a best seller in our Gallery and I am very excited that it will be viewed on a much larger scale to help bring more tourism to Albuquerque and promote our beloved sport of Hot Air Ballooning!

Last nights storm (looking east towards the Sandia Mountains) was worthy of a post, since it has been a while.

This amazing scene developed without forewarning and the double rainbow was icing on top of the incredible cloud formations. It will be in the Gallery in one form or another....soon!

Beaver Moon, Lunar Eclipse 2021 - Guadalupe Mountain National Park, 11/19/2021.

After 2 weeks of following the weather patterns, we settled on this amazing location for our 2021 Eclipse Voyage...and it paid off. The prominent peak is El Capitan (yes, there is another one outside of Yosemite!) at 8,600 feet...the eighth-highest peak in Texas. We were very forunate to get the last remaining RV Spot in the Park Campground...thank you very much to the kind Camp Hosts!

This is a progression composition that was captured from Midnight - 5:30pm CST.

A one minute glimpse of the beautiful Steamboat Springs Balloon Rodeo, 2021. This was the 40th Anniversary of the event, and was completely sold out. We had a blast throughout the entire weekend with 3 amazing mornings of flying. This timelapse was from Day #2.

A special thanks to our family who came up to help crew, it made the trip extremely special.

Last Thursday night's Milky Way near the Abiquiu, NM area. 5 shot vertical pano with the sky tracked at 4 minutes per frame. Clouds were pervasive until 1am, but they finally cleared for some amazing astrophotography. It was a long night, although the kind I very much enjoy as you take in the night sky for hours upon end as it comes alive while the remainder of the world is sleeping. Surreal to say the least.

Images from this past weekend's Bisti Badlands Photography Workshop. We had great participation considering we are just coming out of the pandemic!
Saturday's sunset was the highlight as the sky was filled with saturated color from all directions. We also had an amazing opportunity to capture wild Navajo horses. It was a truly inspiring weekend and we are so glad to be back on the workshop circuit!

Our June Workshop dates are set for the 5th & 6th, come join us!

The newest Rainbow Ryder balloon, 'Eyahne (Blessing) on the Horizon' reflecting amidst the backdrop of a stunning Albuquerque sunrise this past week. This incredible work of art was designed by the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center and honors the 19 Tribes in New Mexico.

We feel so fortunate to live in the wonderful state of New Mexico and all that it has to offer!
