🏰👻 The Ghostly Legend of Boldt Castle… 🌙

They say some love stories never truly end… even after death. 💔

In 1900, millionaire George Boldt began building a magnificent castle on Heart Island for his beloved wife, Louise. But in 1904, tragedy struck. Louise passed away suddenly, and a heartbroken George ordered construction to stop immediately.

For 73 years, the unfinished castle stood as a haunting reminder of a love story cut short.

👻 But here’s where the story gets spooky…

Local ghost stories tell of a mysterious lady in white wandering near the water, unexplained footsteps echoing through the castle, and strange lights appearing after dark.

Could it be Louise, forever watching over the castle built in her honor? Or simply the imagination playing tricks on visitors? 🌫️

👻⚓ Spooky Tales of the St. Lawrence: What Lies Beneath?

Just beneath the waters off Alexandria Bay rests a piece of 1000 Islands history…

The Islander was a sidewheel steamer that carried mail between Clayton and Alexandria Bay and began taking passengers on island tours in the 1890s. 🚢

Then, in 1909, the Islander caught fire while docked in Alexandria Bay and sank. More than a century later, her wreck still rests beneath the St. Lawrence with portions reaching from roughly 15 to 60 feet below the surface.

How many times have you looked out over the River without realizing what was underneath? 👀🌊

👻 Spooky Tales of the St. Lawrence: The Headless Pirate

🏴‍☠️ Do you believe in the legend of Jolly Jack Rogers?

According to 1000 Islands folklore, the ghost of a headless pirate is said to wander Endymion Island on dark, moonless nights… 👀

Legend says Jolly Jack Rogers roams the island carrying his head in one hand and a lantern in the other, with a cave on Endymion said to be one of his favorite haunts. 🏮👻

Fact or folklore? Either way, it’s one of the spookier tales passed down along the St. Lawrence!

👻🏚️ Spooky Tales of the St. Lawrence: The Haunted Cliff House

Once upon a time, a grand hotel stood high on the cliffs of Murray Isle in the 1000 Islands.

After the Cliff House was abandoned, the stories began… 👀

Visitors reported strange lights, mysterious figures in the windows and ghostly encounters inside the empty hotel. Some were eventually revealed to be elaborate pranks but other tales became part of St. Lawrence River folklore. 👻

The hotel is long gone, but its legends live on.
