Grand opening of in Alexandria in the Potomac Yards area! It was a wonderful morning, the line had wrapped the building by 6:30AM (around one corner, not entirely circling it) as folks from as far as Woodbridge shook in anticipation of the free tote bags and coffee for a year reward to the first customers. The interior design is what we’ve all come to know and love from Founding Farmers, with a slightly greener/turquoiser (this needs to be a word, Webster) color scheme in the east wing, the side facing towards the Potomac, with the largest windows streaming in the light. My guess is there’s a thematic play at hand here, with the wing reminiscing in its scenery the natural tones of the river. In either case it’s a lovely place to visit and brunch, and someday I intend to return for their dinner menu. The coffee was excellent with a range of espresso based beverages and alternative milks, though the hot chocolate is batch made and only served with dairy. If I had one recommendation off the bat for the farmers who founded, it would be to reserve one batch of oat milk hot chocolate. Maybe that’s a bit too much to ask for though, economy of scale might not be there. At any rate, I greatly enjoyed the visit and look forward to my return!
