CONGRATULATIONS to Karin Purugganan and the entire team at Wonderologie Counseling+Wellness on their GORGEOUS new building! Every corner of the four-story space is intentionally created to provide a warm, welcoming environment for children who are struggling. Dr. Lauren Fisher, president of the Del Ray Business Association: “I’m so glad you have a space that really fits all of the great work that you do.”

State Sen. Elizabeth Bennett-Parker: “We’re just so excited and grateful for all the work you do to support children in our community. It’s so exciting that you were able to buy this building, ensuring your long-term presence in our community on Mount Vernon Avenue. I know that you have a passion for helping children who are struggling, and we’re so grateful for the work that you do.”

Alexandria City Council Member John Chapman: “Kids are going to have challenges along their academic journey — and frankly, just their personal journey. And having a space that has talented experts that they can work with, to guide them through that in a meaningful, personal way is so necessary in our community, so thank you for putting the time, effort, talent, and the money behind making sure that you have a space here. ... It is necessary, with everything that our children go through, that they have another caring adult in their community that is working with them, helping to guide them, get them through their teenage years and enter adulthood.”

Wonderologie Counseling + Wellness supports children, adolescents, and their families through anxiety, depression, autism, chronic illness and/or extended hospitalizations, and other life stressors. They design each session to be dedicated to the client’s needs at that particular time, applying a variety of modalities, such as client-centered, play therapy, CBT, and DBT, while integrating the theories of Adler, Gestalt, and Existentialism. I find myself trying to make lists, institute systems, and yet I still fail. It's all a reminder that I just need to release and let go. Things will still get done. I might need support that looks a little different than in summertime."
