June 2, 2026: Thank you to the Algoma Elementary School students and staff who came down to the Algoma Marina to help welcome the Viking Octantis passengers to Algoma!

We also saw some pelicans in the river joining in on the fun.

What a wonderful first cruise ship day in Algoma! 🚢🌊
We were excited to welcome passengers from the Viking Polaris to our community and share the charm, hospitality, and beauty of Algoma and the Door Peninsula.

Joining the Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce’s Mobile Visitor Center were City of Algoma Mayor James Winter and Destination Door County, helping greet visitors and provide information about all the great things to see, do, shop, and experience in the area. Each passenger received a bag that includes our Friendly Algoma guidebook and a list of special events and activities going on during their visit.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day special and welcoming for our guests. We look forward to an exciting 2026 cruise ship season ahead! Algoma welcomes the Viking Octantis on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

The Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce looking for friendly volunteers to help welcome visitors at the Visitor Center Tent on cruise ship days in 2026—and we’d love to have you join in the fun!

With 13 ships scheduled to visit, this is a great opportunity to spend just a couple of hours:
👋 Greeting passengers
🎁 Handing out LOVE Algoma bags
❓ Answering questions
📍 Pointing visitors to all the great places around our community

It’s a fun, rewarding way to showcase everything Algoma has to offer while meeting people from all over! Bring a friend!

The Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce, the City of Algoma, and the Cruise Ship committee wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!

We look forward to seeing you in 2026! Two different trips involving the Viking Octantis and Viking Polaris will be bringing guests to Algoma - the first Viking ship is scheduled to stop in Algoma on May 15!

Saturday, August 16, 2025: 6:50 AM: The VIking Polaris hits the horizon in Algoma, WI.

This is the last cruise ship day of the 2025 season here in Algoma, so come on down, greet the passengers ad they disembark, and take advantage of this wonderful photo op!

The ship is scheduled to be here until 3 PM. The departure time could vary at the captain's discretion.

And it's Soar on the Shore - Algoma, WI, today on Crescent Beach!

August 11, 2025: The Viking Polaris departs Duluth on its final Great Lakes Collection cruise of the 2025 season.

The Polaris stops in Algoma on August 16, 2025, which is also Soar on the Shore - Algoma, WI - our kite and beach festival. It should be a great day to enjoy the lakeshore and take some awesome photos!

After this trip, the ship will head to the Antarctic from Toronto for some winter fun and is scheduled to return to Algoma on May 15, 2026.
