June 14 marks the anniversary of the day in 1777 when the Second Continental Congress officially adopted the design for the first national American flag. Both President Wilson, in 1916, and President Coolidge, in 1927, issued proclamations asking for June 14 to be observed as National Flag Day. 🇺🇸

Congress didn't officially established National Flag Day until August 3, 1949, which was then signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
