A trip to Amelia Island is a great opportunity to visit our sister island, Cumberland Island.

Cumberland Island is a paradise for beachcombers, where every tide brings new surprises! Stroll the shoreline and discover a world of natural wonders:

Common Finds:
🔹 Knobbed Whelk – Georgia’s state shell with bold spiral ridges
🔹 Lettered Olive – Sleek, glossy shells with brown swirls
🔹 Moon Snail – Smooth, round shells with a wide opening
🔹 Heart Cockle – Shaped just like it sounds—perfect for keepsakes
🔹 Ark Shells – Thick and ridged, great for crafts
🔹 Sand Dollars – Delicate, flat, and beautiful

Bonus Finds: Fossilized shark teeth from ancient giants like the Megalodon and Great White are often hidden in plain sight!

Note: According to the National Park Service, visitors to Cumberland Island are allowed to take unoccupied seashells and fossilized shark teeth from the beach. Other plants and artifacts must remain on the island before you leave.
