Introducing one of the newest calves in the Biggs killer whale population! This brand new calf was seen traveling with T124A1 Bonapartes as well as the T124A2s. We’ve seen a lot of new calves this year, but we’re always excited when we come across a new one!

Yesterday’s afternoon Orca Only trip was one to remember! We were treated to an encounter of Bigg’s killer whales taking down a Steller sea lion. The pods - T46B1s, T46C2, and T123s - made quick work of the sea lion not far from our marina.

Monday’s tour was truly magical, and just in time for the start of our Guaranteed Orca Tours! We were lucky enough to encounter a T-Party consisting of 21 Biggs killer whales socializing right at Deception Pass. The long list of those present included the T19s, T49A1, T71Bs, T86A3s, T100E, T124As, T124A4s, and T124Ds. It was so exciting to see a such a wide range of individuals, from huge adult males to some of our newest calves!

Continuing with our rare visitor sightings, we were lucky enough to encounter T51 Roswell yesterday! This male is rarely seen in our area, but what was most exciting was he was traveling with T49A2 Jude. This duo was stuck in the saltwater Barnes Lake, Alaska for 44 days together back in 2023 until responders coaxed them out. Very exciting to see them reunite after being freed in our neck of the woods!

We’ve had quite a few rare visitors lately on our tours, but perhaps the most exciting are the newly designated T419s! This pod of three (now named T419, T420, and T421) was documented for the first time EVER in Anchorage, Alaska last year and have been exploring the Salish Sea for the last month! We’ve been lucky enough to have a couple encounters with them near our marina. Here’s hoping they stick around for more!

Meet one of the newest members of our Bigg’s population, T49A7 💖 This little bundle of joy is only a few weeks old and the seventh known calf to fan favorite T49A Nan! We were lucky enough to meet this calf and their pod a couple times this week - hopefully we’ll be able to have plenty of more encounters as the season goes on!

After battling some challenging weather conditions this week, we were able to have a great encounter with a couple pods of orcas, the T36s and T99s! We watched the group of 11 whales socializing and meandering their way through Saratoga Passage before making our way back towards home.
