My honest review on Universal kids resort as a travel advisor specializing in theme parks
My kids are 10 and 7 and very accustomed to the Disney parks. That being said, although my 10 year old did enjoy the park, I think he’s pretty much aged out of this one.
the rides are more fun than they look but they are very short and definitely built for littles as advertised. Additionally I felt many of the ride cars seating felt cramped and tight for adults.
⏰ we were there for about 7 hours and did everything in the park including multiple attractions 2-3 times.
That being said, The park was operating at limited capacity and the longest line we waited in was maybe 5 min.
once the park opens to the public I don’t know what to expect for attendance and wait times but I will say that the ride length times are very, very short and I would be frustrated waiting a long time for them. Social media has been very unkind to the shrek ride in particular and I have to agree with what is out there. Most everything else was a pleasant surprise though!
☀️ There is actually a very good amount of shade (all ride queues have shade and fans in many of them) lots of water splash pads and misters throughout the park as well. Definitely bring towels and suits if you’re heading there in warmer months, lots of water activities/rides and you do get very wet!
I would be concerned about what happens in rainy/stormy weather. we get unpredictable weather here and if it were to storm there isn’t really anywhere for people to go and I’d imagine every single attraction would shut down as everything is outdoors.
Aside from attractions each land has its own playground. There are multiple sensory areas for kids to run around and explore and splash pads with multiple changing stalls! Lots of character meet and greets and a few short shows. The theming is well done throughout each land and my kids were most fond of the Minions & Jurassic world area (probably the most thrilling of the rides)
🍿 The food was great everywhere we ate and every menu we saw looked delicious! A lot of healthier looking options and lots of air conditioned indoor seating areas.
🤩 All in all it was fun little park, and more immersive than I expected! Given that my drive from garage to entrance is 12 minutes, it was absolutely worth our time and something I would consider doing again with my youngest.
In my avid theme park- goer opinion, this is not a multi day park and unless clients have very specific wants/needs I probably would direct most out of state clients towards the Florida/California parks which are much more immersive and have a lot more to offer.
With set expectations, this is worth a visit for those at a drivable distance and I do also think this is a great introductory park for those with sensory conditions.
