A lot of little baby Black-necked Stilts have hatched out in our rest area wetlands on the ranch and they are quite comical to watch as they are busy running around eating aquatic insects and minnows. We also have female Orchard Oriole's nesting too.The males's have a colorful black and reddish coloration.
Yellow-billed Cuckoos are helping to eat worms attacking the Oak Trees. A Great Blue Heron dropped in to check out one of our Photo Blinds.The last photo is a King Rail that comes out and calls every time Chip comes by with the ATV because he calls to it each time and it talks back. It is very sociable!

We still have a pair of Eagles with their young offspring on the Lagow Ranch, Kestrels, Green Herons, and friendly Alligators!

A lot of variety of birds can be seen every day at the Lagow Ranch. Our latest additions have been the new baby offspring of the Pileated Woodpeckers. The Birder's visiting the ranch have really enjoyed watching the adults fly to the nest to feed the hungry calling young fledglings!

We have a lot of nesting birds on Lagow Ranch such as this nest of Killdeer eggs which we marked the side of the road to avoid it.
The Black-necked Stilts have nest in the Rest Area wetlands on the ranch and will have young ones soon!
With all the rain we also have an abundance of all types of wading birds ,such as this Greater Yellowlegs. Lots of Betterns that weren't all that shy! Colorful birds abound on the ranch, like theYellow-Headed Blackbirds, and Purple Gallinules.
Our Fulvous Whistling-Ducks, Black-bellied Whistling-Ducks, and Wood Ducks are pairing up and nesting now too, so soon we will have a lot of little ducklings for Birder's to enjoy Photographing!

Chip captured this great shot of this Cattle Egret nestled in some new growth of Dewberry vines that was by our front entrance to the Lagow Ranch at our Home Place. A Cottontail Rabbit crossed our path too, along with this American Bittern that thought it was hidden !
