🍎It’s Thank Alabama Teachers Month🍎
Today, Superintendent Dr. Daniel Shakespeare visited our schools to personally thank our teachers for their dedication and hard work. He rolled through the halls with a snack cart filled with treats, giving teachers a chance to pick a snack and hear a heartfelt “thank you” for all they do each day. We are grateful for the incredible educators who make a difference in the lives of students across Andalusia City Schools.

The Andalusia High School FFA Officers recently attended the 98th Annual National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana. During the convention, students listened to inspiring keynote speakers and celebrated the accomplishments of FFA members from across the country. They also took part in workshops that deepened their leadership and communication skills while connecting with colleges and agricultural industry partners. The trip offered valuable learning experiences along with time to unwind and explore. Highlights included a concert by Ella Langley, a visit to Fair Oaks Farm, and the excitement of the Three Hills Rodeo. Attending this national event allows students to grow as leaders and gain a clearer vision of the many opportunities within agricultural education. We are proud of our FFA Officers for representing Andalusia High School with excellence and Bulldog pride.

The Alabama State Department of Education’s Child Nutrition Programs has partnered with four major food banks across the state to help provide vital food assistance to individuals and families in need.
To assist families during this uncertain time, Feeding Alabama has created an informational flyer explaining the temporary suspension of November SNAP benefits and sharing important resources for accessing food assistance.
The flyers are attached below — please share them to help spread the word so families know where to find support.
Our network remains committed to taking proactive steps to meet the needs of families and workers across Alabama. Thank you for continuing to stand with us as we serve our communities during this challenging period.

🦴 Unearthing the Past in 6th Grade Science 🦴

Mrs. Mary Ward’s students recently became paleontologists for the day as they dug for fossils, used identification keys, and determined which geological time period their discoveries came from. This hands-on investigation aligns with the Alabama 6th Grade Science Standard SCI.6.4, which focuses on using evidence from rock layers and fossils to understand Earth’s history.

This engaging lesson is part of an AMSTI (Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative) kit that provides teachers with research-based resources and materials designed to promote active, inquiry-based learning in science and math classrooms across the state.

Mrs. Rigdon’s 4th grade math students are reviewing essential math skills through targeted, tiered instruction designed to meet every learner’s needs. This approach ensures that all students receive the right level of support and challenge to master key concepts. Tiered instruction is a vital part of our district’s MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) framework and aligns with our districtwide goal to strengthen tiered instruction across all classrooms, helping every student grow and succeed.
