Here's Lassen Peak in all its glory! 🏔

One of the largest lava dome volcanoes on Earth, Lassen is a true California gem.

I shot this photo from a scenic road that’s only open for about six months a year.

Once the first big snow hits, it’s completely closed until next summer.

If you want views like this, don’t wait too long.

The window is short, but so worth it ☺

Plumas County

Did you know Lake Almanor is one of the best places in California to witness the Western and Clark’s Grebes rushing across the water? 🐦💨

This week, our friends at Sierra Rec Now sat down with Liz Ramsey from Plumas Audubon Society to talk all things Grebe Festival, birding, and wildlife conservation in Plumas County.

🎧 The episode dives into:
— The magic of the grebe courtship dance
— Local efforts to protect nesting sites
— How conservation and recreation go hand in hand here in the Lost Sierra

Give it a listen and discover why Lake Almanor isn’t just a summer destination; it’s a vital stop on the Pacific Flyway and a haven for outdoor lovers. The Grebe Festival is happening in Lake Almanor this week from August 8-10th. Join us for the fun!
