TWILIGHT TOURS OPENED FOR THIS WEEKEND!

We opened two Twilight Tours for Labor Day Weekend. Arrive at 6PM for your 6:30PM departure through Andrews Valley and into the Snowbird Mountains. Our Twilight Tour will return to the Andrews Depot before dark.

Needing to get away, relax, go off grid for a while? We can help.

We'll take you on a 1-1/2 hour tour through the Blue Ridge Mountains of Appalachia. Twice you'll pedal through a hand-carved tunnel. You'll disembark to explore the tunnel by foot or to wade in the crystal clear Valley River.

If you cannot, or do not want to, pedal, we have several non-pedaling options for you!

We're booking tours daily from our depot in Andrews, North Carolina. Our tour times are:

1:30 PM
4:00 PM

This Labor Day weekend we’re also taking our Twilight Tours at 6:30 PM!

“What happens if it rains?”

It is difficult to forecast the weather for our mountain valley, where we’re surrounded by 5,000’ mountains that change things up. Our mountains also create their own weather, so we don’t know if it will be raining here at the Depot or 5 miles away at the Valley River Tunnel or in between.

We go on tour rain or shine. On this 1:30pm tour, we went out in a drizzle.

Our tour was beautiful - the clouds over the mountains are prettiest on rainy days. As we departed our midway stopping point, the skies opened, so we spent some time hiding in the tunnel. With 364’, there’s room for everyone.

On our way down to the Depot, we got caught in a heavier downpour. By the time we arrived we were soaking wet, and were at the point of laughing and deciding to enjoy the adventure.

A grandma said to us, “I was hoping to come here to make memories and we SURE DID! We’ll never forget this!”

So what happens if it rains? We have fun anyway.

OUR FALL TOURS ARE BOOKING UP!

We still have room for you, but you need to hurry! Guess when our fall foliage will be at its prettiest, then book your seats as soon as you can. Some of our tours are already sold out.

When is the best time to come? Anytime! Right now, you'll see plenty of green and dappled light coming through the trees. Soon, the wildflowers will bloom. Then, the leaves will change color. Even after the deciduous leaves fall from the trees, our mountains are beautiful!

We had Dolly Parton’s music playing in our Mercantile all day today. 🎶We’re so blessed to love the same mountains she loved. She never forgot where she was from, and made many generous contributions to our Appalachian community.

Rest in peace, Dolly. We’re thankful for you.

We love to take you on the rails so you can see parts of our region not accessible on foot or in a vehicle. But we also love to bring you here so you can visit our town. Just this morning, I took a phone call from a lady planning a "Girls Trip" with 8 of her friends (all in their 70s and 80s). They are coming to ride the rails, but also planning out their breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and treats in Andrews. She also did research on the shops in our little town, and knows where they're going when they come.

After taking her call, I ran into this recent review:

"This was a wonderful excursion! The guides were fantastic, their humor and enthusiasm was top notch! We had wonderful weather, the scenery was beautiful, and I highly recommend making time to explore the town and the quaint and unique shops, see the beautiful flowers on Main Street. The shop workers were SO friendly and welcoming! Fabulous sister trip!"
