We are booked until April 7 and accepting bookings into mid May .

Our only slots for march left is our event at Hideaway bay . We have multiple guides and a multi day program planned with an all inclusive stay package durring the peak season for our fishery .

With the lake still being frozen we predict there will be a late start to our warm water program . We should be seeing strong runs of rainbows and steelhead throughout April.

The Brakeman of the Angola Horror – A Conductor’s Leap in the 1867 Train Plunge
Angola, New York, December 18, 1867
He checked the tickets for the run.
He held the brake for the curve.
When the last car jumped the frog and the New York Express plunged 60 feet into the icy gorge —
he rode the rear platform, threw the handbrake full, and kept the engine from dragging the whole train into the abyss.
The Erie & New York line was no express route then.
It was:
60 feet of trestle over Big Sister Creek
A 12-car train at 35 mph on a warped switch
A wreck at 6:38 p.m. — two coaches crushed like tin cans, 49 dead — the deadliest U.S. rail disaster of the 19th century
Most who lived owed it to one brakeman who refused to let the engine follow the cars.
Brakeman Charles “Charley” Miner, age 27, from Buffalo, rode the rear platform of the last coach.
The axle snapped.
The car lurched, then dropped.
He saw the engine still pulling forward.
Charley leapt.
From the falling platform to the coupling pin, he grabbed the handbrake wheel on the tender.
Spun it hard left — screech — sparks flying.
The wheels locked.
The engine skidded, stopped 10 feet from the edge.
Forty-nine died below — scalded by ruptured stoves, crushed in the snow.
One hundred fifty lived because a brakeman braked with his body weight and a prayer.
He stepped off the tender barefoot — boots lost in the leap — still holding the brake handle.
The inquest blamed the switch.
They never mentioned the man who kept the front half on the rails.

Behind a cold front Saturday night/Sunday, rain showers will change over to snow showers by Sunday afternoon. A minor Lake Effect Snow response will set up southeast of the Lakes Sunday night and Monday. Snowfall totals Sunday/Monday will amount to a few inches with the greatest snow amounts expected over the higher terrain of the Southern Tier and Northwest Pennsylvania well south of Buffalo. Snowfall totals should stay below Advisory criteria. However, it should be noted that the NWS in Cleveland isn't ruling out a Winter Weather Advisory at least for Erie and Crawford Counties in Pennsylvania.
