Happy Cinco de Mayo! 🇲🇽
Today isn’t just about tacos and margaritas (though we love those too!) - it’s a chance to recognize and celebrate Mexican culture, history, and resilience.
Did you know? Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico’s Independence Day (that’s September 16). It actually commemorates the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, when a small, outnumbered Mexican army defeated the powerful French forces. While it’s actually a minor holiday in Mexico, it's become a big celebration of Mexican culture and heritage, especially in the U.S.
As someone who works closely with the Mexican Caribbean, I see every day how rich, vibrant, and welcoming this destination truly is. So whether you're celebrating at home or dreaming of your next getaway, take a moment to appreciate the beauty of Mexico.
¡Salud!
Are you celebrating Cinco de Mayo today?
