As per the new rules, every two climbers must hire a guide to scale 8,000-metre mountains.

Update ⚠️: The Sagarmatha National Park, Soluknumbu, Nepal (Located in the popular Everest Base Camp trekking route) Office has decided to ban commercial helicopter flights within its core and buffer zone areas starting January 1, 2025, for mountain flight and sightseeing. This decision addressed significant threats to the conservation of forests, wildlife, and the environment caused by excessive helicopter flights and landings. The noise pollution from these activities has affected local settlements and posed risks to wildlife habitats and ecosystems. Rescue flights will still be allowed, but only with prior approval and recommendations from local health posts and authorities. Cargo flights will also require prior approval from the National Park office.
