As each activity and season of the year brings opportunities for your skin to develop new behavior, you will find yourself wondering why your skin care products do not work for you and the answer is simple: physical activities can increase oil production in the skin, as does the release of hormones such as testosterone. Even normally blemish-free skin may become clogged and challenged with acne. Athletes may suddenly find that certain activities bring about dry, rash-oriented, chapped skin, or an increased oil production leading to break outs on the body. A well informed clinical esthetician will first do a thorough examination and analysis of the skin in the area. After that, it is important for you to communicate information about your lifestyle and activities, so that the appropriate related medications and treatments can be applied to alter and improve this situation. Sometimes it is as simple as imparting known methods such as keeping hair off the face, washing before and after workouts, or using a skin barrier when activities take you outside. Fore more persistent problems problems, products that are site specific may be suggested, as well as a treatment plan.
