Let me be honest with you about what’s happening right now…
TSA workers — 61,000 of them — have been showing up to work without a paycheck. They’ve paid for a lack of a finding bill with their time, livelihoods, and their financial stability. All are being threatened.
And now? They’re threatening to send ICE agents to airports to fill the gap — despite the fact that ICE agents aren’t trained to perform security screenings.
Let that land for a second.
ICE. In airports. Checking people.
That is not a neutral development. That is something you need to factor into your travel plans with eyes wide open. Know your rights. Have your documents in order. Travel with trusted people when possible.
More than 400 TSA officers have quit since the shutdown began. Some airports have seen over a third of their staff call out in a single week, and the Department of Transportation secretary is already warning the coming weeks will be worse.
This is not normal. And it is not okay.
But here’s what I also know:
Life is still happening.
Graduations. Weddings. Reunions. Concerts.
The question isn’t whether to live your life. The question is whether you’re prepared with the right information, the right preparation, and the right support.
That’s exactly why I do what I do.
