So what happened to the rest of our days on our 1st cruise? Hmmmm...sad to say it wasn't the ending we had dreamed of. Remember that cooking class in Cozumel??? Well something (and we think it was from this event but don't have 100% proof that it was) made both of us sick. We had fever, vomiting and diarrhea for about 4-6 hours and then another 10 hours of being fatigued and nauseated at the thought of food. So needless to say, Roatan was a bust for us! We did get to watch the tender boats load up and leave throughout the day as our room was overlooking the tender loading area a few decks below our room. We were also never so grateful for the white rice, plain pasta, bread and plainest blandest food we could find at the Windjammer at 7pm on our recovery day.
The following two days were sea days and we used them to get back on our feet - we didn't truly feel 100% about eating and our overall health until well into the evening on day 2 post illness. But we made it and have a new story to tell about cruising. We don't blame anyone - our class leader did all the things that help prevent illness - washed the fruits and veggies, kept raw and cooked food separate, used purchased ice for our beverages. So we're still not ruling out some very underdone eggs in our eggs benedict from the same day. Both situations would lend to the same organism that gave us the onset time and symptoms we experienced.
As for the final two sea days - we enjoyed time in the Solarium sitting poolside and playing cribbage, winning and losing in the casino, watching the Love & Marriage show, eating dinner with our new friends Arlene & Adrian from Long Island, watching the comedy show, catching up on a movie and some BBC TV game shows in our stateroom and taking some naps to help our bodies recover. A first for us at sea was a "DUCK TRADING" table located near the pool. She was busy each time we saw her on our trips to and from the Solarium. All things considered; our trip aboard Rhapsody of the Seas was a good one and we will be back to sail on her again.
