Of course, I am out to catch fish - it’s my addiction and I can’t help it. However, an experience isn’t just about catching fish. It’s about spending time with your loved ones or maybe just by yourself AWAY from life. Whether you like silence or need me to spin

a good fishing story, I am here to make this experience one that is truly tailored for you. I want to take great photos of you enjoying yourself so you can look back fondly on the experience. and i went out to swing flies and dead drift flies for steelhead on the situk river. We both had a few grabs/ hooked fish and justin swung up a good one. So cool to see HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS of steelhead as we floated down the river.

Can you spot my favorite black drum fly of all time? Its weird....and it doesn't catchh reds..which is even weirder (weirdest?) My buddy Nick Hardgrave turned me onto it (invented it really)...I scoffed....then he proceeded to put an absolute clinic on standing next to me while I cycled through every fly I've ver owned. He rocked me 10 to 1. It takes LITERALLY 45 seconds to tie. After 4 years I've converted a few folks over to it. They scoff....I smile....then they get angry...then incredulous...then they convert. its like the grief cycle🤣. Id love to know the science behind why it works. Ive even swapped it out for something similar after catching a few fish in an effort to prove it's not just the fly....or color. Other flies work for sure. But not like this one.

Spotting Fish Is a Subconscious Skill
TRAIN YOUR BRAIN, NOT JUST YOUR CAST

Most folks think they see with their eyes—but really, it’s your brain running the show. And out here, spotting fish isn’t about perfect vision. It’s about trained instinct.

Here’s the truth:
Your sharpest vision only covers a tiny dot in your field of view. Everything else? A blur your brain fills in. But your peripheral vision—low-res and wide—is faster at detecting motion. That’s your edge. That’s where your instinct lives.

🧠 Train the Hunter in Your Head

You don’t learn to see more fish by staring harder—you learn by teaching your subconscious what matters.

1. Scan with soft eyes—don’t focus too hard.

2. When you spot movement, ID it out loud quietly or mentally in your head.

“Mullet.”

“Redfish.”

“Sheepshead.”

“Trash bag.”

3. Every correct ID builds your brain’s filter. You’ll start noticing patterns you can’t explain—because your brain can.

⚡ Trust That Ping

That little what’s that? flash in the corner of your eye? That’s the signal. That's your instinct you are building. What way the fish is facing, indentifying a fish, also......you will start getting instincts about certain areas..."this feels fishy....."

Stop. Focus. Let instinct kick in.
The more you trust it, the faster it gets and the BROADER it gets. The more you can dump into your subconscious, the more you can train finer and finer details. That's called ...MASTERY!

Train your brain. Let your instincts lead. Spot fish like a predator. EMBRACE THE LIFESTYLE

Well it was blowing absolutely trash but we went anyway. Buddy came off and overnight shift to take myself and 's Heath Wooten out for a few hours before he had to work again! 22-25mph sustained with gusts up to 33mph. Tried out the new Moonlit 8wt Glass rod. Man what a stick. My new favorite wand.
