You have just three more weeks until the deadline on September 30 to submit applications for Power of the Purse (POP) funding.

The Power of the Purse – a women’s giving circle established with Legacy Regional Community Foundation – is currently accepting grant applications from area nonprofit organizations that align with their mission “to better the lives of women and children in Cowley County.” Eligible applicant organizations include 501c3 organizations, quasi-governmental entities, and service clubs willing to team up with a qualified organization.

Power of the Purse aims to make a difference in the lives of women and children in the community by encouraging community within the circle and with those they serve, educating and increasing awareness of local need, as well as building a network to catalyze positive change.

Power of the Purse (POP) has given $350,600 in grants and scholarships since the giving circle was established in 2007. POP operates by combining membership contributions to form a fund from which grants are awarded. In 2025, organizations receiving grant funding included Cowley Cares Coalition/Eagle Nest Inc., Joseph’s Storehouse, Kiwanis Club of Winfield, Legacy Regional Community Foundation, REACH, Soroptimist International of Arkansas City, and Winfield Community Food Pantry.

We had to travel a little further today to get tomatoes 🍅 but we brought back one hundred pounds. To show our appreciation for you having to wait we are putting them on sale for three dollars a pound Saturday only for the holiday.  1709 S. Summit open Saturday eight to one, but we will be closed on Monday for Labor Day.
