One thing I love about birding is getting the opportunity to observe all kinds of wildlife.

Colorado’s warmer months offer some of our best opportunities to find moose as they browse through willow thickets, mountain meadows, and wetlands. On our summer wildlife and birding tours, we’re always keeping an eye out for these impressive animals and you never know when one might appear around the next bend.

Of course, the best wildlife encounters are respectful ones. We always observe moose from a safe distance, giving them plenty of space while enjoying the privilege of seeing them in their natural habitat.

Come explore Colorado’s wild side with us!

Welcome to all the new faces here! It’s been pretty incredible watching our recent river otter encounter reach so many people. If that video brought you here, thanks for following along!

I’m Ryan Dibala, a field ecologist and founder of Birding Man Wildlife Tours. I spend much of my life exploring wild places, guiding birding and wildlife adventures, and getting a front-row seat to some pretty unforgettable moments in nature.

Here you’ll find wildlife encounters, birds, field ecology, travel, conservation, and plenty of stories from life in the field.

Thanks for being here! I’m excited to bring you along for the adventure!

I’ve only had the fortune of seeing wild river otters two other times in my life, and they were always brief sightings of fleeing otters. I’ll always remember this sighting with Ramix.com and Irma Lopez we had yesterday as we ate our lunch along the banks of this gorgeous river Washington’s Cascades.

Ready to move beyond simply identifying birds?

Join us this Thursday, July 23, at the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies’ Catto Center at Toklat in Aspen, Colorado, for a hands-on workshop focused on the practical field skills used by seasoned birders.

Together, we’ll explore how to read the landscape, recognize important habitat clues, and better understand where and why birds occur. The goal is to help you become a more observant, intuitive, and confident birder in the field.

Space is limited. Register through the link in our bio!
