🌿 Walk for Peace | A Journey With Intention 🕊️

Today, the Buddhist monks arrived at Mount Vernon, Virginia, after walking all the way from Texas — 2,300 miles (3,860 kilometers). Each step was guided by intention, prayer, and a deep commitment to peace.

This isn’t a race. It’s a pilgrimage.

Along the road to Virginia and Washington, D.C., they’ve crossed six states, countless towns, highways, and quiet backroads, carrying a message that feels especially important right now: slow down, be present, and choose compassion.

Tragically, one of the monks was seriously injured in an accident along the way, resulting in the loss of his leg. Even in the face of this hardship, the group continues their journey, a powerful reminder of resilience, courage, and the strength of their intention.

Their journey reminds us why travel matters — to connect cultures, slow down, and see the world with compassion.

At Moonlight Travel and Tours, we’re inspired by journeys like this. Travel isn’t only about where you’re going — it’s about how you move through the world and the intention you bring with you. While many of us may not be able to walk 2,300 miles, we can still travel with purpose, whether by plane, ship, train, or road. Book your next journey with us and help spread peace wherever you go.

That needs to change!

• Mid layer: pampainit (fleece or down jacket)
• Outer layer: windproof at waterproof
Pack extra clothing sa hand carry mo just in case.

4. Batteries hate the cold
• Mabilis ma-drain ang phone at camera pag malamig
• Ilagay ang gadgets malapit sa katawan
• Magdala ng extra power bank, when possible
kahit na ang gloves are supposed to work with electronic
device screens.

5. Expect delays at changes sa plans
• Maglaan ng extra time sa travel – in case of long or slow lines,
systems can go down, or extra airport screenings, etc.
o bad weather. That way you can still enjoy your trip!

Tips when traveling to the Philippines-Part 2

🛡️ Health and Safety

Generally safe, but:
Watch out for pickpocketing in crowded areas.
Avoid flashing valuables.
Drink bottled or filtered water only.
Travel insurance is highly recommended (island activities = boats, scooters, diving).

🍽️ Food Tips

Try local dishes: adobo, sinigang, lechon, pancit, lumpia, halo-halo!
Street food is usually safe if it’s fresh and popular (when you see people are lining up).
If you have a sensitive stomach, avoid spicy or unfamiliar foods.

🌊 Island Life Tips

Internet can be slow or spotty—especially on remote islands.
Bring reef-safe sunscreen and respect marine life.
If you rent a scooter, wear a helmet and check brakes first and make sure they are working.

📱 Handy Extras

Get a local SIM card (Globe or Smart) at the airport.
Download offline Google Maps and Google Translate (Tagalog).
Power cuts happen, so be prepared and if possible, carry power banks - they are lifesavers!

Safe travels and have fun!

Tips when traveling to the Philippines:

🛂 Entry, Money & Logistics
Passport validity: Make sure it’s valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay.
Return/onward ticket: Immigration often asks for proof—have it ready.
Cash is king: Credit cards work in cities and malls, but cash is essential in islands, provinces, jeepneys, and small restaurants.
ATMs aren’t everywhere: Especially on islands. Withdraw enough cash before heading out.

🚕 Getting Around
Download Grab (the Uber equivalent): Safer, no haggling, and very reliable in major cities.
Avoid unmetered taxis: If the driver refuses the meter, politely get out.
Jeepneys & tricycles: Cheap and fun, but ask locals about fair prices to avoid overpaying.
Domestic flights & ferries: Expect delays—build buffer time into your schedule.

🌴 Island Time Is Real
Things move slower. Flights delay, tours start late, plans change.
Flexibility is your superpower here—go with the flow and you’ll enjoy it more.

🗣️ Culture & Social Tips
English is widely spoken, so communication is easy.
Filipinos are incredibly friendly—a smile goes a long way.
Avoid public confrontation or raising your voice; people value “pakikisama” (harmony).
If someone says “yes,” it might mean “I hear you”, not necessarily “I can do that.”
