Fitness and healthy choices are an important part of ASD programming. We have used CATCH activities for many years, which include a combination of nutrition and fitness activities. Our students participated in the miracle mile walk/run each morning, CATCH nutrition classes, micro-sports skills, and CATCH fitness, along with some free time on the playground! The students love Art Club with Chris Davis! This summer their projects centered around the History of the U.S. and Ohio. Some of the Summer Art works will be on display at the Ashtabula County District Library during the month of September, make sure to stop by and check them out in the Library's gallery. ASD Will have a reception on Wednesday, September 16th.

Two more of the favorites at Careers on Wheels, Summer of Discovery 2026. The Molded Fiber Glass corvette, had the students asking good questions about the corvette, the history of MFG and the many careers offered to our community at Molded Fiber Glass company.
The Ashtabula City Fire Truck and Rescue Squad also answered many good questions and the students loved getting inside to see what it looks like from the inside out!
Thank you to both these organizations for supporting our students' learning and appreciation for Ashtabula!

The students always love when the Ashtabula Police bring their SWAT Truck to the ASD Careers on Wheels event. They have the opportunity to sit in the SWAT truck, but also to feel the weight of the equipment that the Police officers have to wear for safety. Of course, they also learn the skills and education needed to become a SWAT officer and why they are needed to keep our community members safe. Thank you, Ashtabula Police Department!
