There's a particular kind of quiet that happens in the last few minutes before a marathon starts. Hundreds of people who don't know each other, standing shoulder to shoulder, most of them not saying much. Everyone's run their own version of the same thought a hundred times by then. It only lasts a minute or two before the gun goes off and all that quiet turns into noise, but it might be our favorite part of race morning. Ten months out from the next one, and we're already looking forward to it.
