Welcome! I am a third generation captain specializing in salmon, sturgeon, crab and bottom fish near Astoria, Oregon including the world famous Buoy 10.

I provide more that exciting fishing trips I share insight into our unique local ecology and history. Located in Astoria, Oregon on the Columbia River, River Wanderer Outdoors is a licensed fishing guide service specializing in Salmon, Ling Cod, Rock Fish, Sturgeon, and sight seeing tours operated by third generation captain, Jerad Sorber.

Well I thought Coho were pretty much done in Astoria for the season...The fish wanted to prove me wrong. One stolen by a seal, a couple got off, one had too many fins, and these three made it to the fillet table. Not too bad at all for mid-October, and with crab added on, everyone had an awesome dinner tonight. One even had a coded wire tag that the fish checker took the snout for. I think she was as surprised as I was!

Crab are here and they're big and heavy! I just cooked and cleaned 36 of these guys for my clients today!

Had a great day on the water yesterday with an awesome returning client and two new ones. In addition to getting crab and coho, we also had a great show from a humpback and a local sailboat race. I love fishing in Astoria!

Not a bad day at all when the bucket is overflowing, you end up tagging 2 extra fish for your clients, and you put 3 of the biggest coho of your season in the boat. These guys were on a return trip and I can't wait to see them again next year!

Yesterday and today... if this keeps up i might have to revise my advice about August in the ocean being the best salmon fishing.... today we stayed out past noon because we were trying to fill my tag so they could take more fish home. The Talon Rods did a lot of work today for sure and the X2 Fishing flashers kept bringing them in

Another awesome day and these guys made the most of the 3 fish coho limit. The king run on the Main Stem of the Columbia may be almost over but we will be fishing coho at least through the end of the month in Astoria. I have plenty of seats available so let's go get 'em!

Thank you Talon Rods for the quick turnaround on the upper end replacement for the rod that got broken after the line wrapped on a crab pot AND my kicker. The royal blue tip looks awesome and it will look even better tomorrow with a coho on the end of it!
