!! Pumpkin Carving Contest !!

There will be an underwater pumpkin carving contest this coming Sunday, October 25, and of course, we are also open on Saturday, October 24 (there are not any arrangements from dive shops on this day unlike on Sunday), so you still have time to dive, sharpen your skills—especially before any planned travel—and try out your existing or new gear.
If anyone feels like trying their hand at carving a jack-o'-lantern underwater, bring a pumpkin and tools to challenge yourself and impress your friends. There are great conditions at Loch Low-Minn: surface temperatures are 73–75°F and 61°F at a 65-foot depth, with visibility ranging from 30 to 50 feet!
This event will be organized by Ski/Scuba Center (Knoxville) in cooperation with Murphy Scuba (NC). Please check their pages for more information (links provided).
How It Works:
• Buoyancy Challenge: Pumpkins are naturally and heavily buoyant. Divers must place a lead dive weight or sinker inside the pumpkin to keep it from floating away to the surface.
• Gear and Tools: Divers use small pumpkin carving tools, dive knives, or custom props. Because tools are also buoyant, divers often tether them or store them securely in BCD pockets.
• Task Loading: Participants carve while managing their neutral buoyancy, air supply, and depth.
