The event is presented in partnership with the City of Athens. Admission is free beginning at 5 p.m., with fireworks scheduled to begin just after dark. Visitors can enjoy fishing, food vendors, and explore the upgraded exhibits and facilities.

Fireworks at the Fisheries Returns to TFFC on July 6

After a long renovation and closure, the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center will once again host one of the community’s favorite traditions, Fireworks at the Fisheries, on Sunday, July 6.

The event is a joint effort between the City of Athens and the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center. It will serve as one of the first major public celebrations since the center’s reopening on July 1.

Admission is free beginning at 5 p.m., with the fireworks show scheduled to begin just after dark. Families are invited to enjoy fishing, food vendors, and the newly updated facilities at TFFC.

The Angler’s Pavilion will be open until 8:30 p.m. for those who wish to borrow poles and fish. No fishing license is required, and guests are welcome to bring their own poles and bait. Standard fishing guidelines remain in place:

-- Hooks must be single and barbless, or have barbs smashed flat.
-- Cut bait and live freshwater organisms are not allowed.

Food vendors scheduled to participate include 6 Forks Pizza, Pork Commander BBQ, Kona Ice, and Sippin’ Sisters Lemonade.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable evening for everyone, pets, alcohol, to***co products, and pop-up canopies are prohibited on the TFFC property.

A parking and exit plan will be in place to help manage traffic. Marina Drive traffic will be rerouted, and exit routes from the property will be restricted to left-turn-only and right-turn-only movements at designated points. Attendees are encouraged to review the event map in advance to plan their arrival and departure.
