Thinking of spring and growing things puts a bounce in my step and a song in my heart. Every morning it's soooo much fun to wander outside hunting for the next living/ growing example of life emerging onto the scene vibrating with the joy of becoming more.⁣

Make music a daily habit. It's one of the fastest ways I've found to support the mindset of living every day like a vacation. ⁣
⁣
Music has so much power to both set a scene and then transport us there where we are able to imagine and to FEEL an experience. Even better if it's loud or live music where the notes vibrate through our sense of touch. Think about the movies. It's the music that helps us bridge the connection between images on a screen to our own emotional experience. ⁣
⁣
Music is also a way to link both past (memory) and future (our perception and expectation of how a scene unfolds or plays out) to our present moment by pulling in smells, activities, foods, the environment/places, people and mood we either had or expect to experience. ⁣
⁣
I'll never forget the magic I felt one sultry night in Puerto Rico when the air practically drapped itself like a cloak around me and my (soon to be husband) and we swayed gently, arm in arm to the jazz music spilling out an open window. It was one of those times when in the middle of the experience I recognized it as "a moment". I had just enough ability to step back, observe and acknowledge pure joy. Now, whenever I listen to Stan Getz (and most jazz music), my body is able to find the peace and love I experienced in a friend's quiet yard. I can still smell the salty air and see moon beams dancing though our hair.⁣

Do yourself a favor and intentionally find music that makes you feel good. ⁣
⁣
If I put on a little reggae, I can picture myself napping in a hammock, sipping a cold drink at the beach or feel the gentle kiss of a warm breeze flow through my hair.⁣

When I switch to bluegrass, I can feel my heart rising in joy to the exhiliration of dancing & laughing, round and round. ⁣

Music is such an easy way to experience the feelings of a vacation every. single. day.⁣
⁣
This photo is such a great memory when the best gift I ever received (a vacation✔to a tropical location✔ to see my favorite band ✔*best husband ever*✔) converged with amazing new friends entering my life✔ all wrapped together in dancing and music. ⁣

There is a little bit of paradise built into every day. The trick is to find it. ⁣

Lately my favorite mindset practice has been finding little ways to feel like I'm on vacation. Every. Single. Day.⁣
⁣
It's important to reflect on the little moments of fun, the playful attitude and simple indulgences we allow ourselves while on vacation. For me, vacation = freedom. It's freedom to try new things: experiences, places, foods, friends, adventures, you name it. If it's something that peaks my interest, I'm game to try. ⁣
⁣
It is also freedom to do the things I love, regardless of the "buts". When I'm on vacation I suspend the "but it costs to much money, but it's scary, but it's hard, but I don't know how, but who will do it with me, but it's so much effort to figure it out/ plan it, but it's...... I tend to look at vacation as permission to do the things I otherwise wouldn't, shouldn't, couldn't because "it's vacation" and when else are you going to go all in. That particular opportunity to be in that particular place at that particular time will never come again. ⁣

Treating at least one moment of every day like vacation brings magic to our daily routines and experiences. I'm having so much more fun, and of course

We all move down the road called life however the verb is up to you. It's so much more fun to SKIP, SAUNTER (and of course PLAY with your dog).

On the days you find yourself TRUDGING, PLODDING along or even STALLING out, remember that real physical movement like DANCING, JOGGING, HIKING or just plain old ROMPING in the snow can change your mood & mindset. Life is meant to be fun. Get out and play!
