We’re staying open late for Moonlight Madness! Stop by the Atlanta Visitor Center & Museum this Sunday, September 6 from 7–10 PM and come see what’s new!

If you haven’t visited since our updates, this is a great chance to explore the newly renovated Visitor Center, shop for Atlanta souvenirs and gifts in our gift shop, browse the 903 Artisans exhibit featuring work from local artists, and check out our new and updated museum exhibits highlighting Atlanta’s history.

Whether it’s your first visit or you haven’t stopped by in a while, come see us while you’re out enjoying Moonlight Madness!

Admission is FREE!

The Smithsonian is coming to Atlanta, Texas and we’re inviting artists from across the Texas Forest Trail Region to be part of it!

Creative Spark! Regional Art Exhibition will be on display January 9–February 21, 2027, alongside the Smithsonian’s Spark! Places of Innovation exhibition.

Open to regional artists ages 18+. All media are welcome, entry is FREE, and artists can compete for $1,000 in cash prizes, including a $500 Best in Show award.

Entry deadline is December 1, 2026.

Atlanta is preparing for a nationally recognized moment! In January 2027, the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street program will bring its celebrated traveling exhibition, Spark! Places of Innovation, to town.

This six-week showcase will attract visitors from across the region, offering a powerful opportunity to elevate Atlanta and nearby communities as destinations for heritage and creativity. The Texas Historical Commission’s Heritage Tourism team invites local partners including museums, cultural organizations, businesses, and community leaders to join us for an exclusive informational webinar. Learn how you can participate, collaborate on new visitor experiences, and maximize the visibility of your organization during this exciting event.

One of Atlanta’s favorite events of the year is almost here! The Atlanta Area Chamber of Commerce’s Moonlight Madness Event is back on Sunday, September 6, 2026 from 7-10 PM in Downtown Atlanta, TX!

Join us the night before Labor Day for a fun-filled evening with downtown shops open late offering sales and giveaways, a karaoke party, vendors, and a lively food truck court. It’s the perfect way to close out the summer - don’t miss it!

WOW!!! Thank you so much to everyone who showed up to support us at the Grand Opening for the Atlanta Visitor Center & Museum today! We were blown away by our community today.

We look forward to seeing new and return visitors! We are so proud of the beautifully renovated visitor area, new gift shop, and updated museum exhibits - and we think you’ll love them too!

We’re open: Tuesday-Friday, 10AM-4PM (closed 1-1:30 for lunch) and Saturdays from 10AM-2PM. Entry is FREE!

Something exciting is happening in downtown Atlanta, Texas!

Join us as we celebrate the Grand Opening of the Atlanta Visitor Center & Museum on Friday, July 24, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This is a come-and-go event, so stop by whenever you can!

We'll kick things off with an official ribbon cutting at 11:00 AM, followed by light refreshments as you explore everything that's new. Take a look inside the beautifully updated historic T&P Depot, browse our new gift shop, discover updated museum exhibits, and see how the Visitor Center is ready to welcome both visitors and locals.

Whether you're seeing it for the first time or coming back for another visit, we'd love to celebrate with you. We hope to see you there!

The Atlanta Visitor Center & Museum will be closed Friday, July 3 - Saturday, July 4 so that our staff may observe the holiday with their families. We wish everyone a happy and safe Independence Day as we celebrate 250 years of freedom!

The Atlanta Community Fireworks Celebration is back this year at the Atlanta SportsPlex on Saturday, June 27th from 6:30 until showtime (dark)!

This hometown event is free to the public and will have fun activities for the kids, including face painting, bounce houses, craft stations, open concession stand, and more!
