Our staff had a great time at Travel & Tourism Day at the Texas Travel Information Center - Waskom today!

We were especially proud to see our advertisement for the upcoming Smithsonian Museum on Main Street Tour pop up on their kiosk.

Atlanta is excited to be one of six Texas cities hosting this traveling exhibition. It will be in town from January 9 - February 21, 2027. Stay tuned for more details!

We loved hosting JKH’s second graders last week at the Atlanta Visitor Center & Museum, where the learned about Bessie Coleman and her impact on the field of aviation. It was so nice to have children back in the building after a long closure!

We are excited to officially announce that the Atlanta Visitor Center & Museum will reopen to the public on Wednesday, May 13th in the historic Texas & Pacific Railroad Depot!

Regular hours will be:
Tuesday-Friday: 10AM-4PM
(Closed Tues-Fri from 1PM-1:30PM for lunch)
Saturday: 10AM-2PM

We are thrilled to welcome both visitors and locals back into the building. Staff will be onsite to answer questions about Atlanta and the surrounding area, and museum exhibits will once again be open for the public to enjoy.

As we reopen, we ask for continued patience as work on the overall project is still ongoing. Restoration of the historic windows will continue over the coming months, we are still working on setting up the gift shop, and a few interior projects are still in progress. While we are opening the doors next week, we plan to host a large grand re-opening celebration later this summer once the entire project is complete.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this project and encouraged us along the way. We cannot wait to welcome you back inside the Depot!

It’s almost time for the 10th Annual Steven Smith Memorial Cruise-In hosted by the Atlanta Lions Club in Downtown Atlanta on Friday, April 10th from 6-10PM!

The Annual Hometown Christmas event in Downtown Atlanta, TX is next Saturday, December 20th from 5:00–8:00 PM.

ACTIVITY INFORMATION: This year’s festivities will include a skating rink, bounce houses, train ride, photos with Santa, a vendor market, food court, and participating local stores offering activities and goodies. A full event map will be shared in the comment section of this post.

WRISTBAND INFORMATION:
Wristbands are $5 per child and include access to all activities. Wristbands can be purchased:

- In advance at Bloom Beauty Bar (Dec 15-19: 8AM-7PM & Dec 20: 10AM-2PM) and Jana's Mercantile (Dec 15-20: 10:30AM-5PM)

- During the event at the Wristband Stand located in the north corner of the Luigi’s parking lot next to the skating rink (see map)
