What’s the one spot repeat Holland America cruisers always tell first-timers to find?

After sending clients on Holland America sailings, the same tip keeps coming back from the experienced cruisers: don’t walk past the Grand Dutch Cafe.

It’s tucked into the atrium on Deck 3 of the Nieuw Statendam, and most first-timers miss it entirely.

But the guests who’ve sailed HAL often? That’s where they head first. Authentic Dutch pea soup with pumpernickel and speck ham, apple and bacon pannenkoek, made-to-order herring sandwiches, stroopwafels, and quiche that feels like it belongs at a neighborhood cafe in Amsterdam.

Here’s the part most people don’t realize: the food is complimentary. Included in your cruise fare. You order at the counter, a server brings it over, and you settle in.

Specialty coffees and the 16 Dutch and Belgian beers are where the charges come in (or covered if you have the Have It All beverage package).

It’s the kind of detail I make sure my HAL clients know about before they board, because once you find the Grand Dutch Cafe, it becomes your sea-day spot.

Considering Holland America for your next cruise?

Let’s map out the sailing that fits how you actually want to travel. Calendly link is in the comments.

A special opportunity just landed from one of my partners.

Seabourn released a curated collection of their top voyages for the season.

Ten in total. Scotland, Alaska, Canada and New England fall foliage, the Mediterranean, Polynesia, and more.

Small ship travel done differently. Ocean-front suites with private verandas. Fine dining, premium spirits, and welcome Champagne included. Gratuities not required.

Let’s talk Seabourn. Link in comments to schedule a call!

One of my partners just sent over the brand new 2027 Holland America Grand Voyages and they look incredible for empty nesters who want a true bucket list experience.

There are two main options:

129 Day Grand World Voyage on the ms Volendam January 5 to May 15 2027.

70 Day Grand South America and Antarctica on the ms Zaandam January 3 to March 14 2027.

Both sail roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale so you skip the overseas flights. You unpack once and enjoy an intentional pace with overnights in places like Sydney Cape Town and Rio.

Right now you can reserve your spot with a reduced deposit of only 1000 dollars per person if you book by June 15 2026. That also locks in Early Booking Benefits worth up to $9900 per person.

Segments are available too if the full voyage feels like too much at once.

If a longer relaxing cruise is on your wish list drop a comment below with “2027” or “Grand Voyage” and I will send you the full details or help you find the right fit.

Just wanted to say thank you to the first few of you who have already grabbed the UK guide. I’m glad it’s already helping some of you get started without the usual stress.

I’m actually putting everything in that guide to the test myself. I leave May 11 with my sisters and the cuz for our own 14-day adventure through London, Cardiff, York, and Edinburgh.

We planned it with an intentional pace, busy enough to make the most of the trip, but with rest time built in so we can truly enjoy it.

If you’re an empty-nester or close to it and you’ve been thinking about a trip like this, the guide is a great no-pressure starting point. I’m happy to answer any questions you have or help you plan your version when you’re ready.

What’s one thing that’s been holding you back from booking a UK trip?

Drop it in the comments and I’ll reply to as many as I can today.

If a United Kingdom trip has been on your list for a while, this is for you!

I just put together a free guide for anyone who has been thinking about England, Scotland, Ireland or Wales and doesn't know where to start. It covers how to figure out your travel style, how many days you actually need, and the things nobody tells you before you go.

No fluff. No rabbit holes. Just a clear starting point from a travel advisor who just planned this exact trip.

Drop a comment below with any questions. I'll also add the link in the comments.

One of the things I genuinely love about working closely with my cruise partners is getting early visibility into opportunities like this.

Holland America has a rare overlap happening right now - two separate promotions running at the same time on select 2026 sailings, which means clients who book during this window can combine them.

That does not happen often, and it will not last.

If you have been thinking about a Caribbean sailing this fall or winter, a Mediterranean voyage, or something further out into 2027, this is worth a conversation before the window closes.
