May 1st is always an exciting time for us and right around the corner!!
-Speed restriction due to whale migration of 10kts is lifted allowing us to go further off shore.
-Gag grouper, the most common of the groupers that we catch, opens up for 6 weeks at 1 per person or no more than 2 per vessel at 24in long or longer.
-Scamp Grouper, very few are caught, opens up at 3 per person 20in long...Red Grouper remains closed until June 1. Is also part of the 3 per person in combination with the scamps once it opens.
-Silver Snapper, also known as the red porgy, opens up for 2 months at 1 per person 14in long.
-Rock Hind/Speckled Hind open at 3 per person until the end of our season.
-Cobia, rarely caught, is 1 per person 36in fork length for a total of 4 per vessel
-Greater Amberjack is 1 per person at 28in for length.
