Welcome to the last port of call - Nafplio - the original capital and claimed by some to be the prettiest city in Greece 🇬🇷! More snow capped mountains in the distance, today is nothing but sunshine ☀️ and gorgeous! We opted to stroll the old city with Viking’s included tour then break off on our own to see the water front. I will be sad to say goodbye to Greece - this has been one amazing adventure for me!

Today I feel like the weather changed as much as the landscape did… I woke up to beautiful blue Souda Bay on the island of Crete… then as it happens … the winds picked up and the gray clouds moved in as we boarded our bus to visit the ancient city of Chania…our guide did end up abridging our walking tour but it gave time to warm up in a sea side cafe… then just as we meet at fountain square for our walk to the buses 😳 the clouds part, blue sky emerged… long enough for us to see the snow capped mountains of Crete in the distance …as we sailed off to our final destination tomorrow! All part of the adventure today was❤️🇬🇷

I do not even know where to begin… Santorini you did not disappoint ❤️🇬🇷

We tendered in then drove to Oia first to see the famous blue domes. Being Sunday and off season the village roads were empty but also many cafes, shops and restaurants were closed. I totally didn’t mind, from there we drove through the vineyards and countryside to Thira the main town. Again the narrow streets were quite but we found an amazing cafe open to have some local beer, wine, grape leaves and pita❤️🇬🇷

Now for an afternoon swim back on the ship!

Our Rhodes town walk and visit to Palace of the Grand Masters stated out just a bit gray and wet. After a good drenching and a visit to a neighborhood Greek Orthodox Church, the clouds parted giving us a blue sky day to explore! I even stopped on our way back at a small beach to put my feet into the Aegean Sea finally😍! Hope you enjoy this glimpse of the World Heritage Site - the entire walled town of Rhodes - as much as I did!

Today I walked the roads of Roman Emperors, Kings & Queens, Popes and even St. John & Mary in Ephesus. My pictures do not come close to the reality of the ruins here at the Temple of Artemis, Library of Celsus & the massive amphitheater (undergoing restoration)! I learned so much my brain was almost too full… facts about Ephesus as well as the Turkish culture, customs and a lesson in rug making from silk!

Fun fact from my day, not only did I check a new country off my list but a new continent… Asia! Yes, I learned that Türkiye actually spans two continents Europe and Asia 😳 and I was in truly in Asia! I’ll take the check ✅ mark 👍🏻

Welcome to my home away from home on the Viking Star - ship with 9 passenger decks, ocean view balcony or suites only and 930 max passengers. I am celebrating a milestone birthday in my dream stateroom - an aft facing balcony! I asked for two extra wool throws to make the brisk air comfortable! It is the perfect place to enjoy the scenic sailing past Mount Athos. I was hoping the clouds would part just enough to see the summit 6670 feet above sea level, not quite but if you closely look at my pics you may just barely see it! This island (peninsula actually) has been scared land since 800 AD, inhabited only by Orthodox Christian Monks and only men are allowed to visit! Quite interesting history I have to say.

Good morning Thessaloniki - today we explored the 3rd largest city in Greece after Athens & Volos which I much prefer with its beautiful expansive water front. We wandered from the White Tower to Alexander the Great down by the water front, sadly it was too foggy and overcast to see Mt. Olympus. My biggest highlight of the day was visiting St. Demetrius Greek Orthodox Church which throughout history had also been a Roman Bath House & Mosque. The view of the city from the acropolis & old city walls/gate was impressive even on this cloudy chilly day!

Welcome to the port city of Volos … today we had quite the adventure to the mountain side villages of Portarea and Makrinitsa … and yes that is snow ❄️!!! Of course it didn’t phase us but many other were not as happy to be exploring in it!
