Any good travel advisor will give you the same advice!

A Georgia family reportedly drove more than 450 miles for their Carnival cruise vacation… only to watch the ship sail away after a massive highway accident caused hours of traffic delays 🚨🚢

According to reports, the family was heading to Port Canaveral to board Carnival Glory for a Bahamas cruise when a serious crash on Interstate 75 created major traffic chaos and left them running far behind schedule.

And the worst part?

👉 The ship was reportedly still physically sitting at the terminal when the family finally arrived.
👉 But boarding had already officially closed.
👉 The family was denied entry just minutes before departure procedures were completed.

The passengers later contacted Carnival requesting a refund, explaining that they had done everything possible to reach the port on time despite the unexpected highway disaster.

Carnival Brand Ambassador John Heald later publicly addressed the situation and explained why the cruise line could not legally allow the guests onboard once boarding officially closed.

According to Carnival, cruise lines are required to submit final passenger manifests to federal authorities before departure, meaning additional guests cannot simply board late even if the ship has not physically left the dock yet.

The story quickly sparked huge discussion online among experienced cruisers, many of whom repeated the same advice over and over again:

🔸 Always arrive near the port the day before your cruise
🔸 Traffic delays and flight cancellations happen constantly
🔸 Travel insurance can save an expensive vacation
🔸 Missing a cruise can become financially devastating very quickly

Many cruisers pointed out that paying for a hotel near the cruise port is usually far cheaper than risking thousands of dollars on same-day travel plans.

While most people sympathized with the family, many also agreed that Carnival’s hands were likely tied because of strict immigration and security procedures that cruise lines must follow before departure.
