September is International Underground Railroad Month. Join a ranger at 3pm on Friday, September 11th in the historic Thompson Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church for a special talk, “Paths to Freedom,” exploring the Underground Railroad and its enduring connections throughout Auburn, New York.

“Paths to Freedom: The Story of the Underground Railroad in New York”

The Underground Railroad stands as one of the most impressive stories of courage and community in American history, and as one of the finest symbols of the struggle against oppression. New York served as a major hub with over 100 known sites supported by abolitionist families, Black communities, and Black churches that formed critical links on the journey to freedom. Join Ranger Jordan at Harriet Tubman National Historical Park to discover how the Underground Railroad operated as a widespread but secretive network of safe houses. Be inspired by stories of determined abolitionists who were willing to risk their own freedom and safety to help freedom seekers begin new lives in freedom.

All programming hosted at Harriet Tubman NHP is free and open to the public.

Congratulations!!

Happy 10 years to our Papa Roast, our boss man, Matt!!! 🤎☕️

10 years ago, Matt took a leap from selling his freshly roasted beans at farmers markets to opening a little drive-thru coffee shop, ready to see what this new adventure could become. Who knew that one little hut would turn into two, then an online location, our roastery, a sit-down cafe & bar, and now a third hut outside of Auburn (coming soon 😉)?!

From roasting and selling beans, to barista-ing, managing, learning how to run a business, and navigating all the madness that happens behind the scenes. You’ve done a little bit of everything over these last 10 years. And somehow, through all of it, you’ve built so much more than a coffee company. You’ve built a community and a place that so many of us are lucky to be a part of.

We are so lucky to have a boss like you. It’s not every day you find someone who cares about their staff, customers, and community as much as you do. Thank you for all that you do, for everything you’ve taught us, and for giving so many of us a place to grow, laugh, learn, and make some pretty great memories along the way.

Cheers to 10 years, Matt!!! And here’s to another 10… and another 10… and another 10… (you’re not getting rid of us that easily 😉😂)
