This is a sold out category and it’s only this room. Let me know ASAP if you are interested!

I may be the last person to know this but WOW!! Booked a car through Costco (Budget) to pick up at PHX Sky Harbor airport. Stood in line over two hours and still a half dozen people from the front. They had zero cars and the two agents were just hitting refresh on the computer until a car came in for each traveler. The other 10 or so car rental companies were ghost towns. People in line kept saying the others were charging double and triple so I didn’t check until I got desperate at 9 pm. I ended up paying over $800 at Dollar for a car I reserved at Budget for $350. Guess who called this morning?? Costco! They wanted to know why we were a no show. We explained and they said when we return the car, get a receipt and they will reimburse us for the difference!!

Our attempt at biking Skyline Drive across Shenandoah National Park. Theme of the week…HILLS! We didn’t quite make the entire 150 miles but we did cover 115 miles and tons and TONS of elevation. Biking day one was by far the most difficult with 15 notable climbs. Not sure why we thought ending the day with a straight uphill hike was a good idea, but the legs were 100% shot by sundown. Thank goodness the yurt we rented had a hot tub. More research was needed on the exact access to the yurt as a hike up a hill, down an illegal fire road, with a bike, was the only direct route back to Skyline Drive. Biking day two was much better. Overall very few cars (and very few bathrooms), one beautiful overlook after another and our sag wagon driver had an easy time following us. The third night we stayed in Charlottesville and found a fun speakeasy and very good seafood spot. For the final biking day we headed from Charlottesville towards Richmond on some beautiful roads and past some gorgeous wineries. Sadly the only winery open on Friday afternoon was the worst wine I have ever tasted. The owners were so sweet (appropriately so) and kept bringing us HUGE tastings of one sweet concoction after another. We needed to find very creative ways to dispose of it. Our final lading spot as Richmond and we took a few days to take in the history and some great restaurants. The days were long so the card playing was short and Jen dominated the game! Happy to share the itinerary, cycling maps, accommodations and other tips for those interested in this bucket list ride!

Washington D.C.

If you are looking for a getaway close to home, I am happy to share my itinerary, links and maps for four days in Washington DC. I was just here is January and came back to see some things we did not have time for. Still need to come back again as there is so much to see and do! Hit the cherry blossom walk, a cute audience participation show at the Kennedy Center, ate at three amazing restaurants (Old Ebbit, Hamilton and Unconventional Diner), took a tour of Mount Vernon and visited the Air and Space Smithsonian. Amtrack was only $53 from Philadelphia. Red Cap will hold your bags if you have any gaps before check in /out and es**rt you to your seats early! There are also
some great hotel deals out there. Check it out!
