A Track Chair is an all-terrain tool. They are electric-powered wheelchairs that allow people with limited mobility to venture into rugged, off-road areas.

While I am not a proponent of Indiana State Parks, nor their Administration, this is a good start toward correcting their ideology towards Disabled persons. I personally experienced these actions, 6 years ago.
This is a Great opportunity for Wheelchair users to see the sights. And I Highly Recommend that you try it !!
Power Wheelchair users won't have any problems operating these units. They are much different than a Manual Whrelchair or Jazzy. So, for Safety reasons, please ask for detailed assistance on the operation of the Tool so as to prevent injury to yourself or others. These Units typically weigh between 400 and 500 pounds. I am not sure what the options are for transferring from your Chair to the Track Chair. If you need Transfer Assistance, I suggest that you contact your nearest State Park to verify what they have available to assist you. My initial thoughts are that you will need to take a Hoyer Lift and Sling or provide your own lifting assistance. You might also see if the Track Chairs have Cell Phone Holders or Cup Holders for a Bottle of Water, etc.
A person who is not in a Power Wheelchair, a Para, Quad or Tetra, won't know about these things and I have likely missed some.
I am a Quadriplegic, myself. As a huge majority of us know, we have to advocate for ourselves and not rely on someone who doesn't understand our situation to do it for us !!

In 2026, the National Park Service will offer eight days of free admission, exclusively for U.S. citizens and residents. The days include Feb 16, May 25, June 14, July 3–5, Aug 25 (NPS Birthday), Sept 17, Oct 27, and Nov 11. Only entrance fees are waived; camping and tours still cost money. 

2026 National Park Fee-Free Days:

February 16: Presidents Day (Washington's Birthday)

May 25: Memorial Day

June 14: Flag Day / President Trump's birthday

July 3–5: Independence Day weekend

August 25: 110th Birthday of the National Park Service

September 17: Constitution Day

October 27: Theodore Roosevelt's birthday

November 11: Veterans Day 

Key Details for 2026:

Eligibility: Free access is restricted to U.S. residents and citizens.

National Park Week: Takes place from Aug 22–30, 2026, with Aug 25 acting as a fee-free day to mark the NPS birthday.

Scope: Waived fees apply to over 100 national parks and monuments that normally charge a fee.

Other Fees: Costs for camping, boat launches, transportation, and special tours remain in place.
