Letter to the Editor at Austin Daily Herald: A tasty stop in Austin A Plymouth visitor praises Austin’s cleanliness, friendliness, Tendermaid and Hormel Historic House after a stop en route to a college reunion.
I digested Austin on October 8. Did not suffer heartburn. While enroute to Dubuque, Iowa for my 45th class reunion at Loras College, I stopped and spent about three hours wandering the city.
I was amazed at how clean and friendly the city is. Even wandered through an alley to see if I could find some disorder but failed.
My online browsing had put the Tendermaid on my radar. Enjoyed a loose meat sandwich from the enthusiastic staff. Overheard some fellow diners from California gabbing about how they were discovering the Midwest.
The Hormel Historic House was my other major stop. The website Tripadvisor clued me in on that. For only five bucks, I discovered how George Hormel, an entrepreneur had flourished in the city while building a family and mansion.
You have a good thing going on.
