I turned 30 today.

A year ago, I was at the tail end of leaving a six-figure job to run a conservation-based nonprofit pro bono. Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t get it off the ground and, out of necessity, moved back in with my mom. I returned humbled, humiliated, and bitter. In that season of defeat, I came back to a God I had abandoned and laid everything down.

In return, I received a crystal-clear message:
“I’ve been waiting for you.”

That day, in an honest conversation, I made a deal: I could place all my problems, worries, shame, and fears at His feet. In return, every good thing that came into my life would glorify Him. In my eyes, it was a phenomenal deal.

Over the past year, I’ve been to Africa twice, obtained my guiding license, bet on myself again, and—most importantly—found my true path.

My mission is bold: to completely redefine how the luxury safari market operates by integrating conservation-centric experiences into the entire framework of the safari experience. The goal is to make it not just good but profitable for businesses to do good.

This has been the best year of my life. I’ve fulfilled my dream and, in doing so, discovered an even greater purpose. I’m meeting extraordinary people who are doing inspiring work in an industry that brings me immense joy.

I turned 30 today, and I can say with complete certainty:
I’m just getting started.

Coming back to Kwapa wasn’t just a visit — it was a return to the roots of this journey. The first time, I was a student. This time, I had the chance to experience it with a new perspective. No assignments, no deadlines — just the wild in its purest form.

These last three days reminded me why I do this work. It’s about more than wildlife photography — it’s about growth, perspective, and the quiet moments that shift everything. Next stop: Savute.

🌍 A Week in Hoedspruit 🌿

This past week, I had the chance to share the magic of Hoedspruit with my girlfriend. From the tranquility of Sashwa Lodge to the hidden beauty of Swadini Waterfall and the unforgettable wildlife encounters in Kruger National Park, every moment was incredible.

Hoedspruit never fails to inspire—with its breathtaking landscapes and incredible wildlife, it’s a photographer’s dream and a place that leaves you with lasting memories.

I’m wrapping up my last two days here in Hoedspruit. I’ve learned so much. So much about South Africa, the wildlife, the people, my place here. I’m eager to head back to Bots and start a foothold. I’m eager to be headed back home after. While I miss my friends, family, and small little life in Austin, I know as soon as I’m back I’m going to wish I was right back here. It’s a funny feeling to want to leave somewhere knowing you’ll immediately miss it.

Here’s a tawny eagle from my last trip to Kruger. What a whirlwind of two months this has been. My faith and trust have been rewarded.
