I know this is a lot of photos but it’s worth it. This weekend we steamed ALERT to Monhegan Island for an overnight. The next day we explored Manana Island, then took a walk in the woods on Monhegan.
At 3:00pm we got underway for Rockland.
In Muscle Ridge Channel we saw the full moonrise and sunset. We got to our winter berth between the schooners Ladona and J&E RIGGIN at 6:30. After unloading to boat and the trailer we drove back home to Bailey Island because it’s a school night.

We did some down rigging today

Today we pulled the mast from Gannet and drove it home on the trailer. Then cleaned out Gannets winter building at Sea Escape. And squeezed in a two hour rip roaring sail on Alert.
After the sail it was off to Pownal to see Calypsorun cross country. A full day.

We have five more days of daysailing with guests on Schooner ALERT for our 2026 season from Bailey Island, Maine.
We have a wonderful handful of day sails planned and we will end the season sailing into the sunset on Monday the 12th.
The days get shorter and winds get colder.
We get the best out of everyday.

Haul out day is a sad day.
GANNET is on her way to Finest Kind boatyard in Harpswell to haul for the winter.
She did a good job this summer.
123 years old young.
Every year is different, this summer has been a good season.
Thank you to everyone who chartered on her, giving her a job in her long life.
Thank you to captain VINNY for your passion for sailing and love for the boat . Vinny is who makes chartering a GANNET possible.
