It’s not every day that we get to sail to Halfway Rock Lighthouse AND sail with family and friends visiting.
WE DID Today!! Check it out. It’s cool.
It’s a Sunday thing on the schooner ALERT.
Halfway Rock Lighthouse is located halfway between Cape Elizabeth and Small Point, Maine, about 9 miles either way. Bailey Island Maine is also located in the middle (and about three miles north) in Casco Bay, Maine.
We have a handful of trips planned this week! We also have GANNET to get ready to launch.

Supper fun stuff going on at the dock!
Thank you cooks lobster dock for putting some TLC into our home port.
They sell lobsters to you and me.
It’s not very day you can see how a piling is driven for a dock. Today was one of those days.

Another day, another boat launch.
This is the “Roaring Fork” but I like to call here STEVE. She look like a Steve.
A little bottom paint.
A new terminal for the starting wire to connect to the battery.
A good amount is”super lube”
Three scrapers and a shop vack to skuff up the loose paint bits on the inside.
A new garden solar light.
Some Dockline upgrades.
A different hunk of “2x4”
Plug in the hole before launch.
A pair of fingers crossed for the trailer to make the launch and home again (nothing to see here)
For god sake be careful out there.

Wow, turns out we are tired. A Wednesday of rest to reset and be ready to do the next right thing. A x-country and a track meet.
We will work on cleaning and small boats tomorrow (Thursday 5-28-26). We will also host guests for a sunset sail on our Schooner ALERT 6:15-8:15 from Cooks Lobster and Ale House on Bailey Island Maine.

FIRST SAIL OF THE 2026 season!!!
Let’s go sailing!

From launch two days ago (Memorial day)
All morning in the down pouring rain from royal River Boat yard, Yarmouth to The Orrs Bailey Yacht Club, Harpswell.
Defrost.
Rain stopped: sun came out
Moveing of spars and rigging on board.
Rigging 99% of the bocks and running rigging.
Bringing ALERT to Cooks Lobster wharf on Bailey Island.
Eating an amazing dinner Grandma Donna made.
Tuesday: deadline 6:00-8:00 sunset sail.
AM: back to rigging after breakfast!
Fixing the leather work on the Main gaff jaws.
Our nephew coming down to lend a hand like a rock star his first day home from being out west.
All 4 lower sails rigged.
An hour to change cloths and get some important things: like the cannon to the boat and the truck to Cooks Lobster and ale House.
Get the girls from the school bus.
Sunset sailing to end the day!

We always have more to do.
things are in good working order.

Wednesday: we reset our body’s and minds a little.
We hauled out ALERT on the 12th, it’s been everyday a long day. We have some cleaning up to do.

We are open for business! So let’s go sailing.
