This World Photography Day, we’re celebrating one of Bakersfield’s most talented photographers—an artist who has been honing his craft and capturing Bakersfield moments and memories for years. 🎞️
Felix Adamo’s () career spans over 30 years as a photojournalist on the west coast, specifically California’s Central Valley. He has covered events from the local art scene in Bakersfield, to the 1984 Olympics and the 1992 Riots in LA. Adamo has received critical reviews for his continued project documenting his hometown of Bakersfield, CA. He also formerly served as the Chief Photographer for The Bakersfield Californian.
Today, Adamo is on the board for the Bakersfield Museum of Art and he’s still shooting! 📸 What’s his subject matter? Well, he still loves capturing Bakersfield musicians and the music scene, often photographing his own son’s band—The Soda Crackers ()! He also still shoots motorcycles, which is actually how he got his start in the industry.
He has been there for so many moments throughout Bakersfield’s history, like the cover photo, which depicts when Caltrans was taking down the Bakersfield Arch on Union Ave in 1999. It’s so cool to see all these moments documented!
Thank you so much for sharing some of your photos and your talent with us, Felix!
