You’ve probably walked right past this piece of Fell’s Point history. 👀👻

The infamous “VOTE AGAINST PROHIBITION” ghost sign dates back to 1916–1920. More than a century later, it still hangs above Fell’s Point, keeping its spirit alive after a 2024 facelift by local artist Sam Redles. 🍻

Just another piece of Baltimore history hiding in plain sight. 👣❤️

Happy International Literacy Day! 📚❤️

Did you know there’s a story behind the words The City That Reads?

In 1988, Mayor Kurt Schmoke introduced the aspirational slogan as part of a citywide push to promote literacy and education. But Baltimore has had a long and special relationship with reading and learning, being home to the country’s first free, integrated public library, the Enoch Pratt Free Library, established in 1882.

Today, we’re celebrating the words on the bench and the idea behind them: Baltimore as a city that reads, learns, and has a story or two to tell. ❤️
