Hey to the friends of Leanin’ Dipper Ranch.

Flooding update:

The river was kind to us until its last rise on Thursday morning and throughout the day. We’d avoided losing the volleyball court up until then. Pretty much a same situation that we faced after last years flood. It’ll take a few weeks to a month to get things back in order. We’ll wait until things dry out and chances of rain are back to the usual summer patterns to begin the heavy lifting of recovery. In the meantime it’ll be some strategic chainsawing and awe of mother natures fury. Backhoe fun in my immediate future for sure.
Thankfully, the water stayed within the high banks so the facilities above were spared.

Lots of people reached out expressing care and concern which is all warmly appreciated. Thank you.

UPDATE: Gracie is still missing as of 9:20 a.m. June 25, according to Real County Sheriff Nathan Johnson and Cedar Hollow Ranch manager Vick Jones.

Despite reports to the contrary — and dozens, if not hundreds, of AI-generated "sightings" shared by area residents and businesses — Gracie the giraffe is still missing and continuing her tour of the Hill Country.

Cedar Hollow ranch manager Vick Jones said Gracie may have circumvented the ranch's high fence on a bluff and wandered away from there. Jones isn't concerned about Gracie going hungry or getting dehydrated because she is familiar with foraging in South Texas and eats oak, mesquite and acacia leaves.

Getting closer to the big reunion weekend on July 4. We got a nice flush from Mother Nature and hopefully the river will still have a decent flow (not flood!) for us. Fingers crossed.

At the very least another 48 hrs. Water was clear today but brown still and kinda foamy here at the old Leanin’ Dipper.
