The Ho-Chunk Nation Legislature recently presented a $10,000 donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in support of the important work they do for families, caregivers, and community members impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia.

The Legislature is commited to supporting resources that strengthen care for our loved ones.

Throwback Thursday 🎉

Before there were large gaming facilities and destination casinos, there were humble beginnings—like this 1980s thermos from Ho-Chunk Bingo. At the time, bingo halls were more than just a place to play—they were a lifeline.

In the early days of Indian gaming, tribes like the Ho-Chunk Nation turned to bingo as a way to generate revenue when few other economic opportunities were available. These games helped fund essential services—health care, education, housing—and supported efforts to preserve culture, language, and community identity.

Gaming wasn’t just about entertainment. It was (and still is) about sovereignty—about tribes exercising their right to govern themselves and build a sustainable future for the next generations.

From bingo halls to the vibrant enterprises of today, every step tells a story of resilience, innovation, and self-determination.
